My "cheery" Cherry Blossoms, an acrylic painting by betsisanders 2016

Title:  My "cheery" Cherry Blossoms
Size:  8x11 inches
Medium:  Acrylic on Canvas
Artist:  betsisanders 2016

A very simple painting specially made for another
dear classmate, Thelma.

Cherry blossoms bloom during this time of the year,
late March til early April.  I was in Roseville visiting
my sister and thought of painting these beautiful blooms.
********
  •  “One day the Buddha silently held up a flower.
  • This was the famous “Flower Sermon.”
  • In the story, Śākyamuni gives a wordless sermon to his disciples (sangha)
  •  by holding up a white flower. No one in the audience understood
  •  the Flower Sermon except Mahākāśyapa, who smiled.
  • The Flower Sermon signifies the direct transmission
  •  of wisdom without words.
  • “Pick up flower … subtle smile.”

My Naked Ballerina, an acrylic painting by betsisanders 2016

Title:  My Naked Ballerina
Size:  8x11 inches
Medium:  Acrylic on Canvas
Artist:  betsisanders 2016

This painting was specially made for a dear classmate,
Berna.  I was in Roseville for a short vacation and did this
painting in the wee hours of the morning, those times when
I am unable to fall asleep. Since I have aged much,
it took me longer to adjust to the time difference.
But I welcome these sleepless nights because I am
able to contemplate, pray, read, create and paint.

Displayed in Berna's sitting room.
Thanks Berna for giving my painting a home,
