Subic Bay

We left Marikina at 0615 and arrived in Subic Bay two hours later.
This was what greeted us at the Marina.
This US Navy battleship was docked at the Marina harbor. There were several more ships 'parked' down the pier.  The smaller vessel carried supplies and fuel. There were probably submarines too. These troops,  US Navy, Marines, totalled about 2000 young men and a few women came from Okinawa and went to Guam, then proceeded to Palawan and Ternate for some social and civic work. They are now in Subic for a few days before they head to their next destination.
After the photo op with the humongous ship at our back, we had breakfast and looked for a Red Ribbon Bakeshop.  I went to the nearest Red Ribbon shop  in Marikina last night looking for silvanas for Cristina and was told that they ran out of Silvanas. We looked for their branch in Olongapo, and the guy said that they have discontinued production of silvanas. It is a good thing that I was able to get several silvanas from the Brownie Shop in SM, and when I handed these silvanas to Cristina and Ashley, they loved it. Cristina loves this pastry very much.  I also got some cheese rolls and  ensaymada from Mary Grace for them to try. I  got some bananacake and mango bars from Red Ribbon too.  Hope they enjoyed these sweet treats.

Really great to see my favorite niece Crsitina. I remember taking care of her when she was still a toddler. I missed her growing up years when her family migrated to Chicago. She has always kept in touch with me all these years., is all grown up now, a dentist (like her Ninang) and we still share this passion for baking. Keep safe always. Hope Ashley will take good care of you. Thanks for still being the sweet 'inaanak' , 'who used to love to wear that orange striped dress', and for understading that Ninang isn't perfect but Ninang loves you very much even if she doesn't verbalize it often enough.
